 Housing Advocate Network

Housing Advocates are working with many people in our community, including:

• Families experiencing homelessness- at Family Promise, the YWCA’s emergency housing program, or on a waiting list for one or more community programs.
• Individuals who are impacted by the criminal justice system
• Transitional Age Youth (18-24) who are experiencing homelessness.

Mobile Computer Lab

HAN received a $10,000 grant from Spectrum for a mobile computer lab! After COVID, HAN advocates will now be able to teach classes and have trainings throughout the community. We look forward to putting technology right into the hands of the people we are working with. Thank you Spectrum!

Family in Need:

Thank you to everyone who responded to the needs of the family in our last newsletter. They are getting settled in their new house. We really appreciate all of the outpouring of support!

Welcome Baskets- Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who is supporting the Welcome Basket program! For those of you unfamiliar with Welcome Baskets, here is the scoop. 

Welcome Baskets are baskets of goods that Family Promise coordinators and volunteers have put together in order to support a family who is getting into housing with the necessary housing supplies including things for the kitchen, bathroom, etc. The baskets contain items that are expensive when first getting into housing and many are unlikely to be in the possession of the items after months of being homeless. Through a grant and many generous donors we are collecting items to give out to 36 individuals and families who get into housing. Families and individuals working with Family Promise, the Housing Advocate Network, and Welcome Back, who get back into housing, will receive a Welcome Basket. We are also planning to provide a Welcome Basket to the families at the new Meadowlark. We will continue to update you about our progress. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to support this program!
